Police are continuing to investigate after a bomb scare caused chaos on Auckland's Southern Motorway yesterday, after a man's body was found nearby

Officers were called to the walkway at Highbrook about 11.30am - and found an item resembling an improvised explosive device.

Part of State Highway One was closed for hours as a result.

Specialists say two objects found in the area likely aren't IEDs - but are examining them.

Police carried out a detailed scene examination last night, and are looking into the man's death on behalf of the Coroner.
