A person has died after being trapped in a car which flipped onto its roof on Auckland's North Western Motorway, near Point Chevalier

Four others - including a person who was ejected from the car - suffered serious and moderate injuries, and were taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called to the citybound lanes just after 11 last night.

    The motorway re-opened about 3.20am.

It takes the King's Birthday Weekend road toll to three- after fatal crashes in Northland and Waikato.
