A man's due in court this morning, charged with the murder of another man in Hamilton

A man's due in court this morning, charged with the murder of another man in Hamilton

Police were called to reports of shots being fired on Bellmont Avenue in Chartwell just after 6.30 last night, and found a 31-year-old man dead at the scene.

That sparked a massive ground and aerial manhunt.

Police claim the alleged offender stole a car at gunpoint on Gordonton Road shortly after midnight, and was ultimately stopped by road spikes in Ngaruawahia.

A 20-year-old man's been arrested and charged with murder, aggravated robbery, and failing to stop for police.
