    State Highway 1 The Desert Road from across the central plateau is closed Rangipo to Waiouru


    Our newsroom's been told of heavy snow falling across that part of the country.

    NZTA advised that the detour, involving State Highways 49, 4, 47 and 46, adds 40 minutes to the journey.
