A warning that the addition of feral cats to the Predator Free 2050 list, could get complicated

A warning that the addition of feral cats to the Predator Free 2050 list, could get complicated

This follows a consultation process earlier this year - with more than three thousand submissions.

Conservation Minister Tama Potaka says the Department of Conservation will make sure targeted and humane control methods are used.

Auckland University Conservation Biology Professor James Russell says we need to make sure the feral cat population is eliminated - while watching out for stray or pet cats.

He says owners need to take responsibility for their cats, microchip them - and maybe even keep them indoors.
