    MetService is warning of snow in Canterbury south of the Rangitata River, including the Mackenzie Basin


    Between now and 9 in the morning, 15 to 20 cm of snow is forecast down to 500 metres, with lesser amounts lower down.

    Overnight and in the morning, MetService also forecasts heavy rain along the ranges of the Westland District.

    In Central Otago, the road the road is now closed by snow between Tarras and Omarama.
