A focus shift in the red meat sector's yielded strong export revenue for another month

A focus shift in the red meat sector's yielded strong export revenue for another month

The Meat Industry Association's revealed beef and sheepmeat exports for May, reached 1.15 billion dollars - a six percent lift on last year.

Chief executive Sirma Karapeeva says the sector's prioritising value over volume, which has driven up export prices.

She says the US continues to be our largest market - and China's definitely on the road to recovery.

Karapeeva says we also saw increases in exports to Canada and the UK - all of which is bolstering that export receipt.
