It's been 387 days since Queenstown last had an international flight

The tourism epicentre is excited to be welcoming visitors today with the opening of the trans-Tasman bubble.

Qantas Flight 121 will touch down from Sydney around 2.30 this afternoon.

Queenstown Airport chief executive Colin Keel says while it's been tough, his community has performed well with a domestic only market.

He's happy to say none of the airport's businesses has been lost over the last 12 months.
