Belief a boost in funding of heart failure drugs for all New Zealanders is another step towards addressing inequities

The Cardiac Society wants SGLT2 inhibitor drugs funded for everyone with chronic heart failure, rather than only Type 2 diabetics who meet certain criteria.
They've long been the standard of care in the likes of the UK, Australia and Canada.
Cardiac Society chair Martin Stiles says at the moment, patients can fund the drugs for around 100-dollars a month.
He says that creates an inequity between those who have money to pay for the medications, and those who don't
