Wellington batters Nick Kelly and Muhammad Abbas have earned maiden call-ups for the Black Caps' one-day international cricket series against Pakistan, starting Saturday in Napier

They join a New Zealand team that includes eight members of the squad which made the Champions Trophy final.

Coach Gary Stead outlines their objective.

ODI regulars Mitch Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips are unavailable due to Indian Premier League commitments - Tom Latham will captain the side.

Pace bowler Matt Henry is rehabilitating his right shoulder and left knee - fellow quick Kyle Jamieson is managing his workload.

Kane Williamson has made himself unavailable.
