Three people were rescued near Raglan this morning after their boat capsized

Three people were rescued near Raglan this morning after their boat capsized

The boaties made it to shore before emergency responders arrived, and were in moderate to minor condition.

The incident, currently under investigation, attracted Westpac's Rescue Helicopter, Coastguards and Surf Lifesaving.

Waikato Regional Harbourmaster Chris Bredenbeck says weather checks are key to preventing similar accidents from happening.

Mr Bredenbeck says skippers must look at the weather-report, understand what it says, and seek local knowledge.
