Liam Gallagher could be ordered to pay as much as £500,000 a year in child support for his daughter Gemma

The Oasis singer, 53, fathered Gemma, now 11, with American music journalist Liza Ghorbani in 2013 while still married to All Saints member Nicole Appleton, 49, with whom he shares son Gene, 23, and has been facing new pressure from the mother of the girl to increase his payments as he tours with Oasis.

A source has now told The Sun on Sunday amid her latest push for more cash: "He believed he was already providing Liza with generous maintenance fees."

An insider had previously told The Sun: "It's clear that Liza and her legal team are hoping to cash in on Liam's big tour earnings.

"He's always been generous with his child maintenance, but now she's asking for even more money."

Liam has four children in total but has never met Gemma, who lives in the United States with her mother and is understood to be autistic.

Until recently, the singer was thought to have been paying about £3,000 a month in maintenance.

Earlier this year, Liza filed for a significant increase in the New York Supreme Court, according to The Sun.

The Sun on Sunday has now reported a legal motion has now been submitted suggesting an interim decision has been made, though the exact figure has not yet been disclosed.

The agreement will only stand temporarily until terms of a fixed settlement are finalised.

Liam is currently on the 41-date Oasis reunion tour with his brother Noel Gallagher, 58, ending a decades-long feud between the brothers.

The tour is expected to generate up to £50 million for Liam.

Insiders claim Liza's legal team are seeking to use the tour earnings as leverage for higher payments.

In the US, maintenance payments were once required until the child turned 21, but a change in statute has extended the age limit to 26.

This could mean Liam ultimately paying more than £7 million.

James Sexton, a family attorney based in New York, told The Sun: "Ms. Ghorbani will have to argue Gemma is impaired enough that she cannot support herself."

The case follows a confidential settlement reached in 2015, when Liza received £3,000 a month.

Liam's difficulties began in 2013 when he was forced to confront Gemma's paternity after Liza filed a £2 million lawsuit for child support.

He admitted publicly that he had never met his daughter, though he said he would offer help if needed.

Liam also has daughter Molly, 27, from a brief relationship with singer Lisa Moorish, son Lennon, 25, with former wife Patsy Kensit, 56, and son Gene with Nicole.

He is now engaged to his co-manager Debbie Gwyther, 41.
