Ellen DeGeneres is "missing the California weather"

The 68-year-old TV star and her wife Portia de Rossi relocated to England 15 months ago - but the celebrity couple recently purchased a new home in California, and they're now keen to spend more time in the US.

A source told People: "She's not moving back to the US but will continue to split her time between both the UK and Montecito, [California]."

Ellen and Portia have been "missing the California weather and horse scene" over recent months.

The insider added: "Portia loves polo and her horses."

Ellen and Portia were often spotted around their local village in England over the summer months, according to a source. However, the loved-up couple have been less present through the winter.

Speaking about Ellen's previous outings, the insider shared: "She always looked friendly but nobody ever approached her and it was just another celeb to them."

Last year, meanwhile, Ellen claimed that "everything" is "just better" in the UK.

The TV star insisted that she was relishing her new lifestyle since making the move to England.

Ellen - who swapped the US for the Cotswolds in 2024 - told broadcaster Richard Bacon: "It's absolutely beautiful. We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture - everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life.

"It's clean. Everything here is just better - the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here."

Ellen - who hosted her own TV talk show between 2003 and 2022 - explained that she had been enjoying the rural lifestyle since leaving the US.

She said: "We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life. We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks."
