44-year-old Andrew McLean returned late last month, days after a final ruling in Denpasar District Court.
He'd been detained since September, when officials cancelled his Limited Stay Permit following a domestic complaint from his ex partner.
Police paused his deportation in November while they investigated, but after he was convicted of minor assault, immigration officials were cleared to proceed.
Despite the conviction, his lawyers argue his months long detention had no legal basis.
