Tom Sandoval found it "really hard" to overcome his cheating scandal

The 42-year-old star was widely criticised after it emerged that he had a months-long affair with Rachel Leviss, which led to his split from Ariana Madix - but Tom has now got his life back on track and he's having fun as a contestant on America's Got Talent.

Asked what winning the TV talent show would mean to him, Tom told E! News: "That would be crazy.

"That would be so amazing. Obviously, there's such a slim chance because of so many great acts out there, but I would obviously be so happy for the band and for myself."

Tom admitted to feeling particularly nervous about Simon Cowell's feedback.

Tom said: "He's a legend. I mean they all are, but he definitely has his reputation of being brutally honest."

However, Simon and the other judges have been broadly positive about Tom and his band so far.

Tom explained: "Seeing Simon Cowell's smile at the end, and Mel B just being like, 'You really put a smile on my face and I loved it. You guys are not ashamed to say that you're a cover man.' Everybody was having a good time and we got a standing ovation. That means so much to me."

Tom also appreciates how fans have embraced him, following his 2023 cheating scandal.

In a message to fans, Tom said: "It was really hard. Thank you for following along and hopefully we do well and I do them proud. Wish us the best of luck."

Meanwhile, Tom previously admitted that he wears his cheating scandal as a "badge of shame".

The reality star said to Ariana on the Vanderpump Rules reunion episode: "I know you don't want to be around me.

"Whatever our relationship was the good, the bad - whatever you did, whatever I did - it doesn't matter. You didn't deserve that. And I'm really sorry, from the bottom of my heart."

Tom admitted to regretting his affair and acknowledged that he'd struggled to move on from the controversy.

He told his ex-girlfriend: "Ariana, I regret it every day. I wear it as a badge of shame. I did the thing that I said I would never do and I did it."
