It seems Aucklanders have been taking time out of their long weekend to get a Covid-19 test

It seems Aucklanders have been taking time out of their long weekend to get a Covid-19 test

The Ministry of Health says yesterday's demand for people wanting a test was steady, with numbers increasing throughout the day.

One community centre in Henderson even had to open early, as there was a queue of cars waiting for it to open.

It comes amid renewed calls for those in the region to get tested if symptoms develop, after an Auckland marine worker tested positive for the virus earlier this week.

Auckland University Professor Des Gorman says it's encouraging to see people heeding the advice.

He says the community understands the need to respond to the emerging cluster, particularly if your a contact or unwell.
