    Get your Covid-19 booster vaccine

    Get your Covid-19 booster vaccine

That's the resounding message today, following news the Omicron variant is circulating in Auckland and possibly Nelson Marlborough.

New Zealand moves to the Red setting of the Traffic light system at midnight tonight.

A household of nine people in Motueka all have the highly-infectious strain after flying to Auckland to attend a wedding on January 13.

An Air New Zealand crew member on their flight has been infected and worked on four other flights while infectious.

A South Auckland councillor says it's a big concern because his community is vulnerable, and doesn't have the level of vaccination he wants.

Manurewa-Papakura ward's Daniel Newman says it's time for a larger outreach programme, especially for the booster dose.

But he says we also need to ensure mums and dads take their children aged 5 to 11 to be vaccinated, with schools coming back soon.

New Zealand declared 24 new community cases today, including a worker at a rest home in Flat Bush who is associated with the Nelson family.

Yesterday, more than 40,000 booster doses were administered.
