Glen Powell has defended Ryan Gosling after a producer claimed his appeal is "limited to females"

Speaking to The Wrap, the anonymous producer added: "Unlike an actor like Ryan Gosling whose appeal is mostly limited to female audiences, Glen appeals to both females and males."

Referencing Ryan's role as Ken in 'Barbie', Glen replied on X: "Gosling is a legend. I'm just Glen."

The 'Anyone But You' actor is making waves in Hollywood, with upcoming roles in the likes of Edgar Wright movie 'The Running Man', and Hulu comedy series 'Chad Powers'.

George Clooney recently insisted that major studios have shifted how they work in a way which limits Hollywood's ability to make A-list movie stars.

He told GQ magazine: "They haven't developed stars the way the studio system used to.

"[Brad Pitt and I] kind of were at the very end of that, where you could work at a studio and do three or four films, and there was some plan to it.

"And I don't think that's necessarily the case anymore. So it's harder for you to sell somebody something on the back of a star."

The actor-turned-director, 63, is still one of Hollywood's most bankable stars and has helmed a string of critically acclaimed movies, and he recently jokingly hit out at Quentin, 61, who said "some s***" about his Hollywood status.

George - who starred alongside Quentin in Robert Rodriguez's 1996 vampire comedy-horror 'From Dusk Till Dawn' - told the September issue of GQ magazine: "Quentin said some s*** about me recently, so I'm a little irritated by him.

"He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about (Brad Pitt), and somebody else, and then this guy goes, 'Well, what about George?' He goes, 'He's not a movie star'.

"And then he literally said something like, 'Name me a movie since the millennium'.

"And I was like, 'Since the millennium? That's kind of my whole f****** career.'"
