Police have already made multiple arrests, 24 hours into the new gang-patch ban

Officers have attended at least 12 incidents.

Most were in the Eastern District - which stretches from Hawke's Bay to Tairawhiti.

Those accused face the new charge - displaying gang insignia in a public place.

People have been pinged for a sweatshirt, T-shirt, cap, and car dashboard-sign.
