A teens death is sending a powerful message on the dangers of rivers and waterways

A teens death is sending a powerful message on the dangers of rivers and waterways

A coroner has found 18-year-old Jordan Adams drowned at Taranaki's Waiwhakaiho River - after drinking with work mates - in November 2021.

Water Safety NZ data shows 44 percent of all river and inland waterway drownings are people under 25.

Chief executive Daniel Gerrard says drinking and water don't mix.

He's encouraging New Zealanders to really think about the decisions they make in and around water.
