    The Akaroa highway has reopened, as the clear up in Canterbury continues following this weeks heavy rainfall


    The deluge starting Wednesday, caused havoc - flooding areas, creating slips and closing roads.

    Christchurch and Banks Peninsula remain in a State of Emergency.

    The New Zealand Transport Agency's confirmed State Highway 75, between Birdlings Flat and Little River is open, but it's urging caution while the road's fully restored.

    Akaroa residents are also being asked to restrict wastewater use.
