Sir Ashley Bloomfield says he'd have liked to see more funding for health infrastructure

Sir Ashley Bloomfield says he'd have liked to see more funding for health infrastructure

One-billion dollars in Budget 2025 will go into replacing and upgrading public health facilities.

That will include Nelson Hospital upgrades, an ED for Wellington Regional Hospital and repairs at Palmerston North Hospital.

Speaking at a Post-Budget Hui in Wellington, former Director-General of Health Sir Ashley Bloomfield says while a billion sounds like a lot, he'd describe it only as adequate.

He says a report in April found 20 billion dollars was needed.
