Kristen Bell is "still shocked" Adam Brody agreed to be in Nobody Wants This

The 45-year-old actress spent "months" trying to get her pal to sign up to play her love interest Noah Roklov, the Hot Rabbi, in the Netflix romantic comedy series but he initially "wasn't interested" in the job so she's delighted that he finally agreed because he is "so appealing" to watch

She told the new issue of Red magazine: "I tried to convince Adam to do it for months, but he wasn't interested in playing a romantic lead. I'm still shocked he said yes.

"He's kind of cookie cutter, yet he's not, and he sort of defies all of the things you think he is - he'll pop up in weird projects here and there, and only does work he feels is meaningful.

"But he's so appealing to watch - because of Seth from The OC, people already feel he's a good guy. Even when he's playing a pessimistic character, he's endlessly charming, which is very hard to do."

Despite her desire to work with Adam on the show, Kristen - who plays podcaster Joanne Williams - is amazed by the audience's response.

She said: "I don't know why people like seeing us together so much. All I can say is that when I read the script, I knew it was him, and I knew people would feel that too."

Adam's real-life wife Leighton Meester has joined the cast for the second season and Kristen is "excited" for people to see her comedy side.

She said: "Leighton is a comedy sniper and I am excited for people to realise that.

"The weird thing about that episode is that Leighton's fake husband is played by Joe Gillette who is the real-life boyfriend of Kackie Tohn, who plays Esther.

"So I kept going around saying 'Did you guys know that Jackie's boyfriend Joe is playing Adam's wife's husband?!'"

Meanwhile, Kristen is also known for voicing Anna in Frozen and she's proud she had a hand in making the princess more "goofy" and relatable.

She said: "Before Anna, [Disney princesses] always had beautiful posture, and didn't interrupt other people, and didn't bump into things.

"But I wanted to make it okay for girls to know that someone can be clumsy and goofy and not super embarrassed by it.

"I wanted an honest representation of who I was growing up - and who is still very much me. I was watching the initial drawings of the scene when Anna wakes up being rendered on a computer and I said, 'Wait, can we add spit and a big snore?' That was a really fun gift to give my inner child.' "
