    The retail sector is optimistic for a bumper holiday period


    Stats NZ electronic card data for August shows a 0.7 percent rise on July.

    Retail NZ Chief Executive Carolyn Young says it's positive news, but is partially down to higher prices.

    She says they'll be keeping an eye on trends over the next few months, and are quietly confident numbers will be better than last year.
