Some schools in the area are asking parents to keep children home

Waterlea School has reportedly told parents it will be closed until it receives confirmation it's okay to open.

Te Papapa School in Onehunga has told parents to keep children home if possible.

Royal Oak Intermediate is open as normal, but has told parents not to worry about school too much and keep themselves safe.

Onehunga High School is open and following Fire and Emergency advice.
