The hosts outscored the Steamers five-tries-to-three, having led 21-12 at halftime.

Otago skipper Sam Gilbert told Sky Sport it took a mighty team effort to overcome last year's finalists.



Otago will meet either Canterbury or Hawke's Bay in next week's decider.
