A Chinese court's ordered hundreds of hectares of kiwifruit plants to be ripped out - in a landmark intellectual property ruling

New Zealand marketer Zespri filed an infringement case in 2023, over the unauthorised production, sale, and marketing of Gold3 kiwifruit.
A Wuhan court has awarded Zespri nearly 1.3-million dollars compensation and ordered the crops destroyed.
Chief Executive Jason Te Brake says China has about seven-thousand hectares of unauthorised plantations.
He says they're monitoring worldwide, but China is the main area of concern.
