Peter Andre was once pulled over by traffic cops because they thought he was driving while drinking a pint of Guinness

The 51-year-old pop star has revealed he was motoring through the town of Ipswich several years ago when he had an unexpected brush with the law when police pulled over his car because they saw an iced black coffee in his cup holder and they mistook it for a boozy beverage

In his column for OK! magazine, he revealed Justin Timberlake's recent arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated reminded him of his own misunderstanding. He wrote: "Although I have never driven under the influence, [Justin's arrest] got me thinking about a time I was pulled over.

"I was driving in Ipswich to visit my brother and I got stopped by the police because they thought I had a pint of Guinness next to me.

"Unknown to them, it was just an iced black coffee with froth on top - and it looked very much like a Guinness.

"The policeman said to me, 'Sir, when was the last time you had a drink?' And I think he expected me to say 'last night' or 'this morning' but my answer was, 'Around nine or 10 years ago.' We both started laughing."

Peter had to take a breathalyser test, which he passed, and he revealed the police officer told him not to carry his coffee in a pint glass anymore.

He added: "[The officer] said to me, 'Look, just a bit of advice, don't put your coffee in a pint glass and drive around with it.' Lesson learnt."

In the column, Peter also revealed his teenage daughter Princess is now learning to drive as she turns 17 later this week - the legal age in the UK to take to the road - and he's promised to buy her a car once she passes her test.

He added: "Not only is Princess turning 17 this week, but she is also learning to drive and will be sitting her theory test at some point. I can't believe how grown up she is! I'm getting ready to help her practise ...

"When it comes to getting a car, though, she wants to wait until she has her licence. [Her elder brother] Junior wanted one ahead of time but Princess said she wants to wait and pick one out afterwards."
