New Zealand Olympian Sam Tanner has swapped the race track for the water, taking part in the Manu world champs qualifier at Tauranga Moana

Tanner competed in the adult event, and while he didn't place, he showed off his skills.

Wilder Whakatau won the men's qualifier with Ripeka Bell coming out on top in the women's, while there were also events for under 12s and under 18s.

The next qualifier is in Hastings next Saturday.
