    Former Wallaby Jordan Petaia is a step closer to playing in the NFL after signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as a tight end

    The three-year deal comes after impressing as part of the league's International Player Pathway in a 10-week crash course in Florida.

    Petaia's reaction time convinced scouts he was capable of playing the nuanced position of tight end, with code-hoppers usually aiming to be wide receivers or running backs.
