Bargaining will take place today between Health New Zealand and the Nurses Organisation - ahead of a 24 hour strike starting Wednesday

Bargaining will take place today between Health New Zealand and the Nurses Organisation - ahead of a 24 hour strike starting Wednesday

More than 36-thousand nurses, midwives, and health care assistants are set to walk off the job.

Health New Zealand says it's committed to reaching agreement with the union so the strike notice can be lifted, and disruption to patients avoided.

Chief Executive Dr Dale Bramley says it's estimated more than four thousand planned procedures and specialist appointments would have to be postponed, if it goes ahead.
