Bike Auckland says other ways to increase cyclist safety - don't include getting rid of helmet laws

Bike Auckland says other ways to increase cyclist safety - don't include getting rid of helmet laws

The Regulation Ministry's advised the Minister - the risks of removing the protective requirement would outweigh any benefits.

David Seymour had asked it to look at the rules.

Bike Auckland Chair, Karen Hormann, says members' views on helmets vary.

But she says the focus should be on more important things.

Hormann says lower speed limits, better town planning and more bike lanes - will get more people on bikes.
