Lily James feels "proud" of Pam and Tommy

The 36-year-old actress played Pamela Anderson in the 2022 biographical drama series, and although the former Baywatch star has been openly critical of the project, Lily insists it was made with "love and integrity and a commitment to truth".

The brunette beauty - who starred alongside Sebastian Stan in the show - told The Independent: "There's always a sensitivity around playing someone real, and rightly so, because that's a huge responsibility. And then you have to navigate that in terms of how you put it out in the world ... I reached out to Pamela, and we were never told not to make it, and if there were certain things that could have been different...

"I knew we were championing and honouring her story, and I know it was made with such love and integrity and a commitment to truth. I'm proud of the story that we put out, and I'm so in awe of Pamela Anderson and the woman that she is."

Lily always feels a strong connection to her on-screen characters, and the actress actually struggles to discuss her role in Pam and Tommy.

Lily said: "I'm probably not talking about this with much eloquence, but only because it still feels very fresh.

"The thing about my characters, whether they're real people or not, is that they really live inside of me. I don't just rock up and say my lines; there's a feeling of heaviness, and protectiveness, and at times fear around these roles that I've played. It's not always easy for me to talk about them."

Meanwhile, Pamela previously admitted that she "didn't know anything" about Pam and Tommy.

The actress and her ex-husband, Tommy Lee, were the focus of the biographical drama series - but Pamela wasn't consulted about the project at any stage.

Pamela said on Andy Cohen Live: "I didn't have any involvement. No one called me, which was so strange, and that was hurtful. I think ethically it's illegal."
