Neighbours say they're not surprised to learn about a shooting in a Wellington suburb

Armed police were called to a Travers Street house in Vogeltown on Sunday, and found a 41-year-old woman outside with a gun shot injury.

She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Residents say a group of young men live at the house where the shooting took place.

They say it's been really traumatic, but they weren't surprised when they heard .

Police are searching for a car believed to have fled the scene after the shooting.

    The scene investigation finished yesterday.
