JoJo experienced "so much confusion" during her years of child stardom

The 34-year-old singer landed a record deal when she was just 12 years old and after watching the documentary 'Quiet On Set' - in which several former stars of the network alleged that they had faced abuse during their time there - explained that sometimes parents can become "swept up" in the world of fame, and revealed that she almost landed a part on the kids' TV station

Speaking on WHQT's 'HOT 97', she explained: "Did you see that Nickelodeon documentary? 'Quiet On Set'. That was hellacious, that was crazy but I know that that really happened. I did a pilot called 'Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide' which was on Nickelodeon, "And then I got signed, and my label said 'You can't go back and do that...' So it's crazy that I might have been a part of that Nickelodeon thing at the time. But of course, those stories are real, of course, people experienced that abuse and it's unfathomable.

"What can people do? Well-meaning parents sometimes can get swept up in fame or access or adulation or somethings there are other things going on, or whatever."

"I was just so sad how people's lives are destroyed from being victims at the hands of people who are meant to look out for them.

"For me, what I experienced was so much confusion, no one being honest with you. Love-bombing you, and then talking, saying something different behind your back because you're famous. That's not good for a developing brain."

The 'Leave (Get Out)' hitmaker feels "compassion" towards her fellow child stars who became "more famous" than she did in what she thinks must have been a "disorientating" experience for them.

She said: "It's really weird. I have compassion for people who are way more famous than me, and had to deal with it on a totally different level. It must be very, very disorientating and isolating."
