An industry professional believes you can only be optimistic about New Zealand's gaming industry heading into the new year

The sectors projected to be worth worth 1 billion dollars by 2029, as three Kiwi-made games reached the global top-10 most-played charts in 2024.

Gaming related jobs in Wellington have increased 12.8 percent in the past year - the video game sector as a whole grew 26 percent in 2024.

Chief executive of gaming company Pik Pok Mario Wynands says it's looking like a busy year ahead.

He says the metrics he's seeing, the growth, and the success being shared between so many companies is great to see.
