Kim Kardashian's eldest daughter is homeschooled

The 45-year-old star - who has North, 12, ~Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and six-year-old Psalm with ex-husband Kanye West - explained she is helping the pre-teen follow her interests with "realistic courses" such as a brand-building class.

Appearing on her sister Khloe Kardashian's Khloe in Wonder Land podcast, Kim explained: "She had an idea of making hats and making jewellery ... so we made it a course.

"It's been so fun to see her blossom."

North is also taking a course in music, which has helped her "bond" with her father.

Kim said: "The music side and the producing isn't my thing, and that's her bonding with her dad... But we have to communicate about how North moves through this world.

"Respecting [Kanye's] opinion on the things that go on with his kids is really important."

The Skims founder dismissed the idea that she views her eldest daughter as her "bestie".

She said: "I think like the one misconception that people might have is like, 'Oh, she's trying to be her bestie and lets her get away with a lot.' Like, no, Northy actually has a lot of rules."

Kim has always been happy for North to express herself through her appearance.

She said: "[That's the] one area I do let her express herself. I love her for that, and she would do it, you know, regardless...

"It's funny, like people are like, 'Oh, this blue hair, all of this, all of a sudden,' or like her fake piercings that she puts up.

"I have pictures of her when we're in first grade [and] pre-K, where she'd come with like a fake septum ring and she has her green braids and she has pink braids. But she's always loved the coloured braids in her hair since she was little.

"Like she really is who she is and always has been that girl. And so, like, I nurture her."

The Kardashians star tries to ignore criticism of her parenting choices.

She said: "I'm just not a judgmental person like that, so I try not to pay attention to it.

"But, I think that no one knows unless they're in my shoes what I'm dealing with and how we have to manage certain things from the outside world or even close in our life that we have to go through together."
