Auckland Tuatara manager Regan Wood believes it would have been financially irresponsible to take part in the Australian Baseball League this season

Auckland Tuatara manager Regan Wood believes it would have been financially irresponsible to take part in the Australian Baseball League this season

The club has pulled out due to the financial and travel strain caused by Covid-19, given they would have had to play all games in Australia after a New Zealand-based conference was ditched.

Wood says unlike the Warriors and NRL, the ABL isn't underwriting the competition so they would have had to fund it with no ticketing or sponsorship.

Wood's adamant the club will return the following season, despite being served with a breach notice by the ABL.
