The Food and Grocery Council has concerns over folic acid being added to flour

The Government says by 2023, most flour products will contain the B vitamin that prevents birth defects like spina bifida.

But the council says there's emerging evidence of possible health risks from over-consumption - and the effects of unmetabolised folic acid on the nervous system.

It says it's already raised these concerns, with little impact.
