    It would appear we're taking to the bottle, with booze sales skyrocketing on the eve of the Lockdown


    Palmerston North led the sales frenzy with a 716 percent lift on August 18 - and there was heavy spending in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin.

    Dot Loves Data director Justin Lester says Eftpos figures point to some panic buying at liquor stores.

    He says there was a 473 percent rise from the previous Thursday, as people stocked up.
