"Bro, I'm going to die tonight"

"Bro, I'm going to die tonight"

That's the message 17-year-old Tayla Alexander sent a friend, moments before the car she was in crashed, killing her and sister, Sunmara, in Christchurch's Port Hills in 2019.

Sunmara, an Ashburton College student, died later in hospital on her 16th birthday.

Driver Levi Fiddymont, now 21, is on trial -- charged with dangerous driving causing death, and causing injury.

He says the brakes on his Subaru WRX failed that night, but the Crown says he was driving too fast.
