Eighteen percent of Blenheim businesses had damage to a value between 10 and 50-thousand dollars due to last month's flash flood

Eighteen percent of Blenheim businesses had damage to a value between 10 and 50-thousand dollars due to last month's flash flood

The October 29 storm brought 50 millimetres of rain in an hour.

The Marlborough District Council surveyed the businesses affected by the floods.

Economic Development Manager Neil Henry says it was an intense storm causing lots of damage, mostly surface water and rain entering through roofs.

He says 40 percent received damage costing between one and ten-thousand, but four businesses received more than 50-thousand dollars worth of damage.
