A push to officially restore mana to the original name of Whakatipu Waimaori

Ngai Tahu will begin working through a process with the New Zealand Geographic Board, to return the "h" to Lake Wakatipu's name.

Otakou Runaka representative, Paulette Tamati-Elliffe , says individual businesses could make their own call on the name change.

She says the idea's been greeted positively, with entities including RealNZ embracing the name.

She says there's already been a positive acceptance, with entities including RealNZ embracing the name within their businesses.
