An Otago University researcher is reminding parents to branch out as baby food pouches take over the market

An Otago University researcher is reminding parents to branch out as baby food pouches take over the market

An Otago University study shows pouches only give babies small amounts of energy and iron, but are important sources of carbohydrates, fibre, and vitamins A, C and B-6.

Researcher Ioanna Katiforis says to assist with transitioning babies to food the family eats, these products shouldn't be relied on.

Katiforis says babies need a variety of foods with different tastes, so they'll be happy to eat a range of foods as they get older.
