New Zealand Rugby insists too many voices in the coaching group isn't to blame for All Blacks assistant coach Leon MacDonald's shock exit

New Zealand Rugby insists too many voices in the coaching group isn't to blame for All Blacks assistant coach Leon MacDonald's shock exit

The former Blues mentor is leaving the role on the eve of the ABs' departure to South Africa, just five tests into the Scott Robertson era.

NZR general manager of professional rugby Chris Lendrum's confident MacDonald isn't a casualty of a bloated coaching group.

A replacement isn't being drafted in - Robertson electing to divvy more responsibility to other assistants Scott Hansen and Tamati Ellison.
