A business next door to the site of a giant sinkhole in Auckland says it's lost tens-of-thousands of dollars because of it

The sinkhole opened up on St Georges Bay Road in Parnell last September after a sewer line collapsed - caused by a combination of factors including heavy rain and deteriorating pipes.

In June, Watercare expected the carpark to be reinstated this month - it's now been pushed back until the end of the year.

Social Cooking owner Katrina Horton says they were initially told it'd be finished by March.

She says they've probably lost 50-thousand dollars worth of business, and in a year that's been pretty challenging.
