Flooding chaos in Nelson, as heavy rain continues to fall

Fire and Emergency says it's responded to more than 20 callouts since 10am, most around Washington Street and Bishopdale.

The majority relate to floodwaters entering property.

Nelson City Council's monitoring conditions, and urging residents to delay travel if possible.

Rutherford Street is closed for urgent repairs on a manhole, and the eBus service is temporarily suspended.

MetService says the heavy rain is expected to ease around midday in Nelson.
