Primary school teachers are demanding more resourcing and support, as they prepare to strike

Primary school teachers are demanding more resourcing and support, as they prepare to strike

NZEI members have voted to walk out of the classroom next month, saying the latest pay offer fails to address key issues.

The Public Service Commissioner is confused, saying the Government's made a significant investment in education.

Lead negotiator Liam Rutherford says they do recognise this, as things like more learning support coordinators in schools, from next year is great.

But he says it falls short of what teachers actually need, as it's not making a difference tomorrow.

Secondary teachers are also continuing strikes - with Year 10s affected today.
