Police are maintaining an increased presence in Horowhenua's Foxton Beach after the deaths of two people in a house fire

Police are maintaining an increased presence in Horowhenua's Foxton Beach after the deaths of two people in a house fire

The property on Queen Street went up in flames about 5am yesterday.

The victims will be formally identified in coming days.

Horowhenua Mayor Bernie Wanden says it's a difficult time.

He says loss of life is already distressing, and for it to happen in this way, is truly tragic.
