A State of Emergency remains on the cards for other parts of Northland - after being declared for a week in Whangarei district - already pelted with heavy rain

Heavy downpours are expected until early Thursday - for northern and eastern parts of the North Island.

Northland Civil Defence Comms Advisor Zach Woods says Whangarei's the hardest hit so far.

He says there's constant communications across the region, assessing whether other districts need to declare to support the response.

Meanwhile, more than 200 properties in Mangawhai and Kaiwaka are without power - and lines company Vector's urging Auckland customers to prepare for outages.
